We received this Wonderland Mad Hatter Tea Party from Little Birdie Events, which they styled for Isabella, a little girl who turned one this month.

As told by Little Birdie Events .....

Isabella loves hats, which inspired us to create a {very merry} Mad Hatter Tea Party with a young, soft, feminine vibe. We were aware that Alice in Wonderland is a popular theme, so we focused on adding some different touches by channeling a vintage feel with a gorgeous pastel palette, and by focusing on the small but important details. We loved working with blush pink, baby blue, mint green, pastel yellow, and soft violet. As we prefer not to work to literally with a theme, we set about creating two pretty pastel vintage-style dessert and candy tables with added touches from the Alice in Wonderland story and Mad Hatter by-line. Backdrop We engaged Samantha Dunne (Dunne With Style) to create rosette fans out of card stock in colours and patterns in line with the young, feminine pastel vibe. She also created a rosette fan name garland using vintage-style paper fans. We love this beautiful and eye-catching backdrop for the main dessert table. The setting for the table was perfect. It was on the verandah of a beautifully restored "Old Queenslander" home in a green Alice-in-Wonderland-esque garden against a glorious Brisbane spring-blue sky. Food Sweet treats on the main dessert table included: "Very un-vanilla cupcakes", which had surprise fillings of either lemon curd or strawberry cream (Cakes by Judy C) "Petite blossom cupcakes" (Cakes by Judy C) "The Queen of Hearts' raspberry jam tarts" (Cakes by Judy C) "Playing card" decorated biscuits (Cakes by Judy C) "Vintage hat" decorated biscuits (Cakes by Judy C) Blonde brownie squares and squares of chocolate, caramel and pecan slice arranged to portray a chessboard (Jocelyn's Provisions) Lemonade crystal swizzle sticks displayed in a tea set "White Rabbit" meringues (Jocelyn's Provisions)

The candy table included: Rose-flavoured pink and violet heart-shaped lollipops designed and created especially for the birthday girl, Isabella (Sticky) Couture couverture painted chocolates in various unique flavours Mini glass bottles with small floral-flavoured sweets and our own "Drink Me" labels Smooth flowing caramel-filled mushroom-shaped chocolates Sweets featuring some of the flavours experienced by Alice when she drank the "Drink Me" drink - cherry bon bons, custard bon bons, pineapple clouds, and toffee bon bons (for obvious reasons we omitted the roast turkey and hot-buttered toast flavours!). Lindt chocolate bars covered in beautiful paper with a personalised sticker, which we created to coordinate with the stationery. The beautiful dessert-style cake was made by Gwen from Welsh Lady. Amongst our favourite items on the dessert table were the macarons - designed by us, and made by Marche du Macaron. Flavours included: Strawberry and marshmallow ("Eat Me") Blueberry and orange blossom ("Try Me") Lemon and white chocolate ("Take One") Violet and vanilla bean (white shell with violet on top) Rose and lychee (pink shell with rose petal on top) Lavender and earl grey ("Cheshire Cat smile" macaron) Salted caramel ("Mad Hatter hat" macaron) Details

We do enjoy creating details special to each event. For this event we designed and created the stationery ourselves using the harlequin pattern in pastel colours as the background and fonts and motives to create a pretty vintage feel. We selected some of our favourite excerpts from Alice in Wonderland to feature on the table, including the classic "Curiouser and curiouser", as well as: "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." " Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin," thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in my life!" "The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts, all on a summer's day: The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts, and took them quite away!", which naturally accompanied the raspberry tarts. Photography"
