Oh, the Places You'll Go - A Dr Suess Inspired Pastel Themed Christening by Little Birdie Events

Little Birdie Events styled his Sweet pastel dessert table inspired by Dr Seuss’ “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” for Gerri’s daughter, Lulu, to celebrate her Christening. As told by Little Birdie Events:  Following is an excerpt from the book: "Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off any away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You'll be off on your way up! You'll be seeing great sights! You'll join the high fliers who soar to high heights."

Gerri was reading "Oh, the Places You'll Go" to her young son at bed-time one night, and realised it would make a beautiful inspired theme for her baby daughter, Lulu's Christening. We thought a sweet, soft pastel version would suit the occasion very well, so we focused on a colour palette of baby blush pink, baby sage, violet, apricot, buttercream, and aqua-sky blue. Based on the book, we included sky elements, soft fluffy-Dr-Seuss-y elements, whimsical coloured rosette fans flowing across the sky backdrop and into a spiral, fluffy tissue pom poms throughout the entertaining area, and theme stationery inspired by the illustrations in the book. 

 We love our sky backdrop, created by Li-Ann from Ham&Pea Design&Paperie - it was a great canvas for the dessert table. Dr Seuss-esque "Ella" poms made by Samantha from Dunne with Style adorned the delicious cake, a raspberry buttercream layer cake, made by Jocelyn's Provisions. Jen from A Little Slice of Heaven made the gorgeous vanilla bean cupcakes with pink sugar paste pom poms to coordinate with Dunne With Style's "Ella" poms. Jen also made the vanilla bean balloon sugar cookies, as well as the gorgeous cloud-shaped coconut ice. Other sweet treats included peach-flavoured macarons by Cakes by Judy C, bon bons, and the irresistible lemon delicious and fluffy passionfruit marshmallow made by Jocelyn's Provisions. We made the delicious Turkish Delight cheesecake and set it in mini glass jars.

The jars were adorned with white poms by Dunne With Style. Delicious, and pretty! Little Birdie Events designed the stationery suite - a more simplified pastel take on the illustrations in the original Dr Seuss book, "Oh, the Places You'll Go". - we loved putting it together for Lulu!
