An Ombre Japanese Themed party by Sugar Coated Mama

Sugar Coated Mama styled this Japanese Ombre Birthday party! She went with a coral, pink and red ombre colour palette in the décor and food as told by Sarah,

"Hours of DIY craziness was injected into this party… From the hours of love poured into making the Origami for the entrance, to the dyed mini origami for the cake topper (thanks to the help of Heather and Sugar Coated Mama Jr – my daughter Mia), as well as the dyed coffee filters to make fan style bunting for the dessert table (thanks to the help of my friend Alessandra and Jodie from Get Frosted). I will load up the tutorials on these DIY ideas when my blog launches in September. I also worked with the gorgeous Cheryl from Rosehip Flowers, who created the beautiful Cherry Blossom arrangements which are so richly symbolic in Japanese culture and bring such prettiness to the table. Cheryl’s Carnation posies are also so simple yet stunning and really made it all come together. The beautiful old bay window where the dessert buffet was set up made the table look magical and the timber brought in the traditional Japanese feel. I managed to find some beautiful fans from Bits and Parties and ombre lanterns from How Divine. By the time this party was over, I honestly thought “I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think
so”! So much fun…

I decided to keep the clean simplistic lines of Japanese style by splitting the dessert table and the candy bar up so it wasn’t over crowded. The dessert table was the main feature, with beautiful kimono and traditional fan cookies by Mad Midnite Baker, oreo fan cupcakes, ombre marshmellows, vanilla and raspberry cupcakes, strawberry mousse and a coral ombre cake in the middle by Jodie at Get Frosted. The candy bar featured red red and more red lollies…"
